Moose Jaw Brings Home the Gold and Silver Medals!Well it was a good weekend at the High Performance tournament in Red Deer with both the U12 division team and the U8 division team coming home with medals!
The U12 Team played great throughout the whole weekend dominating in the round robin part of the tournament to make it through to Sunday's gold medal game. In the gold medal match they once again executed their game plan perfectly and beat the Didsbury Alberta team by a final score of 11 - 4. Congratulations to the players for a great tournament!
In the U8 Division we saw more of the same throughout the round robin portion of the tournament with the Breakers going 3 - 0 - 0 in their pool, easily beating each team they played. On Sunday came the real challenge as the team rallied together to play their best game of the tournament in a come from behind, 7 - 5 win which took them to that afternoon's gold medal match against Wetaskiwin. The game was close throughout the 1st period but their 5th game in 2 days saw the team a little winded come the second period, and they weren't quite able to keep up with the eventual gold medal winners. Even so, it's an impressive feat seeing that this is the first ever inline tournament for any of these kids so a very big kudos to the whole team for playing your hearts out and bringing home the silver medal!
The league and parents would also like to thank and congratulate the 5 coaches that came and helped both teams to bring home their medals. It couldn't have been done without you! Thanks again and we'll see you at the Calgary tournament!
